I am continually finding myself saying the words……..

‘Is it Friday already?’ closely followed by ‘Where did that weekend go?’ For many of us time passes very quickly due to our hectic and often routine, time tables of life. We may often find ourselves reflecting about the previous week. The week may have been productive with lots, ticked off the to-do list. However it will have been very similar to the previous one. If this is the case we are at risk of walking through our lives in auto pilot. Yes we may need to go to work, clean the house, cook a meal and do the gardens. However we can still make small changes that will enrich our lives or just make it more fun and interesting.

Often people will feel at odds or down hearted about their lives in some way. Unfortunately this is an emotion that is tolerated and people continue on the same path in the same way, doing the same things.

Another week, month or even a year can pass, the emotion felt is still the same and no action is taken. In some ways it is easier to just carry on as we are…..fed up……but in our comfort zone.

So what to do? ……..

First think about what small changes you could make, in an aim to improve your life.

Do you want to improve your health? Do you want to smile more? Do you want to learn a new skill? Do you just want to try something new and out of your comfort zone? These things do not need to cost money, just a small amount of time and commitment each day for a month.

Now many people will often think about what they could give up for a month sugar, chocolate or alcohol. If those things are affecting your health and that is what you want to tackle first, then great go for it! ……….it’s only a month and we know how quick that will go.

Now many of us will procrastinate, we will start at the beginning of next month. May be wait until the children are back at school. Just get the decorating out the way or decide we just don’t have the time. The list will be endless.

This is where you have to take a deep breath and say to yourself ‘it is just a month, I have everything to gain and nothing to lose!’

If you look at your diary another year has nearly already passed. If you look ahead at the next 12 months by making a change or setting yourself a challenge each month for the next year. Consider the things you may have improved on and the fun, new exciting things you could have tried.
